Question:
I need some new ideas for keeping my 1st grader happily learning!
Okay, Moms. This is the crucial point. You can have the best supplies in the world, but if you can’t get the kids to open a book, it isn’t going to do much good. So the challenge is getting your kids interested so they are begging for more. And finishing their schoolwork eagerly each day!
Want to make homeschooling easier!? Try creating a Co-op School!
Co-op school is simply a few homeschool families getting together to do school together once a week. My family enjoys it tremendously. Every Friday, we meet with a few other families from 9:30 to noon. Some years, our group has grown to many families. All you need are some other children near your children’s ages for friendships to form.
Ammon (15) loves plants. He cherishes them, in fact. He can spend hours supervising and nurturing his garden. When he was a little boy, I always made sure he had his own large bed in our family garden that he could plant with whatever he wanted. This year, Ammon wanted to plant melons and squashes—both which take more space than our garden would provide, so the idea was born to let Ammon grow his sprawling garden in front of our house. We live our in the country, so this is not so radical a plan as it sounds like . . . but we have had some comments from the neighbors.
Kind at Home I’d like for folks to say of me, No matter where I roam, “That child is nice and gentle—but She’s sweeter far at home.
