Forgive me, Lord, for all the tasks
\nThat went undone today.
\nBut this morning when my child
\nToddled in and said, \u201cMommy play?\u201d
\nI simply had to say \u201cyes\u201d.
\nAnd between the puzzles, and trucks and
\nBlocks and dolls and old hats and books
\nAnd giggles,
\nWe shared a thousand special thoughts,
\nA hundred hopes and dreams and hugs.
\nAnd tonight, when prayer time came
\nAnd he folded his hands and softly whispered
\n\u201cThank you, God, for Mommy and Daddy
\nAnd for Mommy playing,\u201d
\nI knew it was a day well wasted.
\nAnd I knew you\u2019d understand.<\/p>\n
