It isn&#8217;t possible to do all that our children ask us to do. \u000bI heard this heart-stirring poem when I had 3 little rambunctious boys \u2014Daniel (5), Mark (1) and Nathan (3)\u2014that kept me busy morning &#8217;til night. It made me want to slow down and listen to their little requests to &#8220;look at me, Mom!&#8221; It made me want to read the stories and play with them more. Now that my sons are grown, I have discovered how true this poem is!\u00a0<strong>Take a moment right now, if you can, and &#8220;do the little things he asks you to&#8221;. You won&#8217;t regret it!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 150px;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3230 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/happyhomeschooling.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/supermanboys.jpg?resize=215%2C300&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"supermanboys\" width=\"215\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/happyhomeschooling.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/supermanboys.jpg?resize=215%2C300&amp;ssl=1 215w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/happyhomeschooling.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/supermanboys.jpg?w=243&amp;ssl=1 243w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 215px) 100vw, 215px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"padding-left: 150px;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: large;\">To My Grown-Up Son<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 150px; text-align: justify;\">My hands were busy through the day<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 150px; text-align: justify;\">I didn&#8217;t have much time to play<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 150px; text-align: justify;\">The little games you asked me to.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 150px; text-align: justify;\">I didn&#8217;t have much time for you.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 150px; text-align: justify;\">I&#8217;d wash your clothes, I&#8217;d sew and cook,<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 150px; text-align: justify;\">But when you&#8217;d bring your picture book<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 150px; text-align: justify;\">And ask me, please, to share your fun,<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 150px; text-align: justify;\">I&#8217;d say, &#8220;A little later, Son.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 150px; text-align: justify;\">I&#8217;d tuck you in all safe at night,<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 150px; text-align: justify;\">And hear your prayers, turn out the light,<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 150px; text-align: justify;\">Then tiptoe softly to the door.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 150px; text-align: justify;\">I wish I&#8217;d stayed a minute more.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 150px; text-align: justify;\">For life is short, and years rush past,<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 150px; text-align: justify;\">A little boy grows up so fast.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 150px; text-align: justify;\">No longer is he at your side.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 150px; text-align: justify;\">His precious secrets to confide.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 150px; text-align: justify;\">The picture books are put away,<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 150px; text-align: justify;\">There are no children&#8217;s games to play,<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 150px; text-align: justify;\">No good-night kiss, no prayers to hear.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 150px; text-align: justify;\">That all belongs to yesteryear.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 150px; text-align: justify;\">My hands once busy, now lie still<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 150px; text-align: justify;\">The days are long and hard to fill.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 150px; text-align: justify;\">I wish I might go back and do<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 150px; text-align: justify;\">The little things you asked me to.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 240px;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u2014Alice E.
