It was obvious that if the trainer ignored good behavior, or approached wrong behavior with a slap or criticism, the walrus would quickly &#8220;un-train&#8221;. It took <strong>constant positive reinforcement<\/strong> to keep the animals willing to do the trainer&#8217;s bidding.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-6332\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/happyhomeschooling.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/walrus-74080_1280.jpg?resize=333%2C222&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"walrus-74080_1280\" width=\"333\" height=\"222\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/happyhomeschooling.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/walrus-74080_1280.jpg?resize=300%2C200&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/happyhomeschooling.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/walrus-74080_1280.jpg?resize=1024%2C682&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/happyhomeschooling.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/walrus-74080_1280.jpg?resize=150%2C100&amp;ssl=1 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/happyhomeschooling.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/walrus-74080_1280.jpg?w=1280&amp;ssl=1 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 333px) 100vw, 333px\" \/>Children are not walruses, of course, but as I observed the crowd, I saw parents interacting with their children and it was very instructive. I saw <strong>children behaving wonderfully well, but they were given no positive reinforcement<\/strong> or attention at all. Misbehaving children were given plenty of negative attention, scolding and occasionally a spank. Some misbehaving kids were actually bought off with treats or souvenirs to shut them up and keep them happy.
