No, it is more than that: it is life-threatening! Even more\u2014it is civilization-threatening!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Did you realize you had so much power?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Who does God trust? In Genesis 18: 19, God is speaking to Abraham telling him he can <strong><em>trust<\/em><\/strong> him to raise his children to honor God, and to live true to the values Abraham holds dear.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord, to do justice and judgment; that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him&#8221; <\/em>(which was, that all the nations of the earth would be blessed through his seed).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>To have God trust you is a huge compliment. It is not enough for us to live a righteous life ourselves, but we must do all we can to ensure that our children will honor God. If it takes all of our time and best effort, so be it.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3935\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/happyhomeschooling.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/samuelhears.jpg?resize=300%2C225&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"samuelhears\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/happyhomeschooling.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/samuelhears.jpg?resize=300%2C225&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/happyhomeschooling.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/samuelhears.jpg?w=1024&amp;ssl=1 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><br \/>\n<em>Samuel hears the voice of God<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Remember the story of the boy prophet Samuel, the son promised to his infertile mother? When her beloved child is weaned, she brings him to the temple to be taught and reared by Eli, the high priest. Eli hasn&#8217;t got a very good track record. He already has his own two sons, who should have been the rightful heirs, but he isn&#8217;t doing so well with training them. In fact, God says:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;I will judge [Eli&#8217;s] house forever for the iniquity which he knoweth; because his sons made themselves vile, and he restrained them not&#8221;.<\/em> 1 Samuel 3: 13<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Eli and his two sons, and even his son&#8217;s wife (who was in childbirth at the time) met a sad fate because of a parent&#8217;s unwillingness to make his children mind him.
